Department Of Child Support Services Hosts Monthly Information Sessions

Published on February 07, 2014

Placer County’s Department of Child Support Services continues to offer free monthly information sessions for those interested in learning more about the Department’s programs and services. Charged with overseeing child support issues for families, the Department establishes and enforces child support orders, establishes paternity, and obtains orders that require parties to provide health coverage for children. The information sessions are open to any member of the public who would like to attend.

“We’re here to answer any questions people may have about our services,” said Kristen Mindus, Child Support Supervisor. “We are here to help families, and work toward what is in the best interest of the child, without bias or judgment.”

The Department began offering the information sessions as a way to inform the public about the array of services available to them, and to help reduce anxiety surrounding government involvement in their lives. Information sessions have provided people with answers to questions on how to open a child support case, how custody affects child support payments, how long child support payments are required, how payments are enforced, and more. By providing access to Child Support Services staff the Department hopes to continue to foster honest and transparent relationships with the families it serves.

“We have experts available in each field to answer questions,” Mindus said. “The whole purpose of these monthly events is to give residents a clear understanding of the processes and of the many services Placer County is committed to providing to families.”

The information sessions are held from 4PM to 5PM on the third Tuesday of each month at the Department of Child Support Services located at 1000 Sunset Boulevard in Rocklin. Upcoming dates are February 18th, March 18th, April 15th, and May 20th.
