Published on April 29, 2014
The Placer County Youth Commission is currently looking for dedicated, engaged, and motivated youth from all over Placer County to fill the 18 seats available for the 2014-2015 Youth Commission.
The Placer County Youth Commission is a youth advisory board to the Placer County Board of Supervisors. It works to include and improve youth voice and engagement in local government and policy. The Youth Commission sets its own priorities, research projects, and action plans and works with many partners in the community to help make Placer County the best possible place for young people. It provides unique leadership opportunities that develop real-world knowledge and skills. Experience on the Commission has assisted many in attaining other opportunities, awards, and scholarships.
We aim for youth from diverse backgrounds willing to commit to twice-monthly meetings during the 2013-14 year term (August - June). Commissioners must be Placer County residents between the ages of 14 (or ninth grade) and 21 years.
Do you know a young person who could be a great Commissioner? If you answered yes, please encourage that young person to apply to the Placer County Youth Commission!
Applications are due Friday, May 16th by 5 p.m. and can be found online or on Facebook (Placer County Youth Commission).
For more information, contact the Commission by email or by phoning advisor Kara Sutter at 530-889-7179.
