Public Invited to attend May 5 Grand Opening for new Cook Riolo Bridge

The public is invited to attend a May 5 grand opening ceremony for the new bridge that takes Cook Riolo Road over Dry Creek in southwestern Placer County.

The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. The bridge is located between PFE and Vineyard roads.

Jack Duran, District 1 Supervisor and Chairman of the Board of Supervisors; Ken Grehm, Placer County Public Works Director; and Brad Tooker, Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District Superintendent, are scheduled to speak during the ceremony.

The new bridge was built to replace an old one-lane structure that was subject to flooding.

The replacement bridge meets 100-year flood standards. It is 350 feet long, 52 feet wide and farther above the creek than its predecessor.

It features two 12-foot traffic lanes, two 8-foot shoulders and a dedicated 10-foot lane for bicyclists and pedestrians that is separated from vehicle traffic by a concrete barrier.

The Public Works Department worked with area residents and members of the West Placer Municipal Advisory Council to design a bridge that meets current standards, but is in keeping with the rural character favored by residents.
