- Public forum on homelessness
Published on February 06, 2015
The public is invited to participate in a county-sponsored public forum on homelessness. Homelessness is a community challenge that impacts many of us.
To facilitate a community conversation, the county has hired a consultant, Dr. Robert Marbut, to conduct a countywide homeless needs assessment and develop an action plan. The community needs assessment will be presented at the upcoming public forum and will be followed by the development of an action plan. Dr. Marbut is a national expert on homelessness and has met with dozens of stakeholders, analyzed available local data, and conducted supplemental surveys of homeless individuals in the community.
The public forum will provide an opportunity for cities, businesses, law enforcement, residents, faith-based community, and other interested parties to understand homelessness in our community and to participate in the development and implementation of long-term solutions to reduce homelessness. The needs assessment will include identified gaps in services and housing among the county, cities, and community providers to foster a community dialogue among all local agencies and interested stakeholders.
If you have any questions, please contact Graham Knaus, Assistant Director of Health and Human Services at 530-745-3140 or email Graham Knaus.
