- Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project
The Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project (KBCCIP) is a $50 million initiative that will improve, enrich, and revitalize Kings Beach. The project includes the following improvements designed to create a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly commercial center in the heart of Kings Beach:
The first phase of the project is the Core of the Core; construction began in the spring of 2014 and is anticipated to be completed in the fall of 2015.
The second phase of the project is the Gateway to the Core and will include the remaining highway and grid improvements not constructed in the first phase. Gateway to the Core designs and permits are complete and the County anticipates starting construction in the spring of 2016.
Under the leadership of the Placer County Department of Public Works, the design and planning for the project took 15 years to complete. The process involved a multitude of community members, regional agency representatives, and business owners who provided input to create a flagship project that will enhance the quality of life in this North Lake Tahoe Town Center. Transient Occupancy Tax funding of $6.75 million was allocated to the project.
