This planned multi-purpose recreational trail will add to excellent trail network in the North Lake Tahoe region. When completed, the paved trail will be approximately nine miles long and will connect the Northstar Village with the Lake Tahoe Basin and the Town of Truckee. This trail will greatly enhance a growing recreational amenity in the area, serving a cross section of users, including families with children. Connectivity between Northstar, the Lake Tahoe Basin and the Town of Truckee will offer users opportunities to safely travel between commercial centers, area rivers, parks and lakes. Additionally, the alignment of the trail was selected to give users a high-quality scenic experience.
$1,000,000 of Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) funds have been spent to date for planning and design of the trail. Construction of initial segments of the trail has been completed. A recent allocation of $250,000 of TOT funds was approved to construct the trail segment connecting the Martis Valley Wildlife Viewing Area to the east end of the Northstar golf course.
