Dependent Care - Flexible Spending Account (FSA) - All Benefit Groups

Employees can enroll in a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA). It is administered by WEX Discovery Benefits. This allows employees to set aside pre-tax dollars from their paycheck to pay for eligible child or adult day care expenses. Employees are reimbursed for actual expenses only, and any unused funds are forfeited per Internal Revenue Service rules.

Healthcare – Flexible Spending Account (FSA) – Management & Confidential Benefit Groups Only

Management and Confidential Benefit Groups can enroll in a Healthcare Flexible Spending Account (FSA). It is administered by WEX. This allows employees to set aside pre-tax dollars from their paycheck to pay for eligible out-of-pocket healthcare expenses. Items covered are medical, dental, and vision care expenses that are not covered by your insurance plan or elsewhere. Employees are reimbursed for actual expenses only, and any unused funds are forfeited per Internal Revenue Service rules.

Required California Notice:

State law requires employers to notify employee participants of fund withdrawal deadlines before the end of the plan year.

 2022 Plan Year Deadlines:

  • December 31, 2022 – Last day employees can expend FSA contributions for the plan year January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022. Any amount not expended by this date will be forfeited.
  • March 31, 2023 – Last day employees can submit a 2022 claim to Discovery Benefits for reimbursement.

 2023 Plan Year Deadlines:

  • December 31, 2023 – Last day employees can expend FSA contributions for the plan year January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2023. Any amount not expended by this date will be forfeited.
  • March 31, 2024 – Last day employees can submit a 2023 claim to Discovery Benefits for reimbursement.
