Garbage Collection Service
Recology

  • Collection routes continue to operate as normal. 
    • Extra bags at curbside continue to be collected on normal collection days; charges apply.
  • Placer County residents west of the City of Colfax who do not subscribe to residential garbage collection can establish services by visiting their website or by calling (530) 885-3735.
  • Debris boxes continue to be available for delivery to homes; charges apply. Call to schedule.

Tahoe Truckee Sierra Disposal 

  • Collection routes continue to operate as normal. 
    • Extra bags and bulky items continue to be collected on normal collection days; charges apply.
  • Placer County residents east of the City of Colfax can establish service by visiting their website or by calling (530) 583-7800.
  • Debris boxes continue to be available for delivery to homes; charges apply. Call to schedule.

Garbage Self-Haul

  • Transfer Stations in Auburn, Meadow Vista and Foresthill are open with credit card and check payment only; NO CASH ACCEPTED.
  • Recycling Buy Back Center is closed and will not be re-opening.

Western Placer Waste Management Authority
All customers must wear a mask when visiting and maintain space from employees and other customers.

  • Facility open daily with all payment types accepted including cash, credit, debit and mobile payment (Google, Apple and Samsung pay).
  • Now accepting Hazardous Household Waste (HHW) 
  • Recycling buy-back center is open.

Eastern Regional Materials Recovery Facility
Masks and face coverings are required for entry.

  • MRF and Scalehouse open, Monday through Saturday with
    credit card payment only.
  • Free HHW collection, by appointment (call 530.583.7800):
    • Every Friday, through September
    • Third Saturday
  • Recycling Buy Back Center is open, Monday through Friday,
    from 8am - 2pm.


The Environmental Utilities Division administers and manages the county-wide solid waste and recycling programs in eastern and western Placer County. 

County-owned facilities include the Eastern Regional Materials Recovery Facility in the Tahoe area, transfer stations in Meadow Vista and Foresthill, and four closed landfills.

The Division also provides administrative support and management to the Western Placer Waste Management Authority which owns and operates the Western Regional Sanitary Landfill and Materials Recovery Facility in unincorporated Roseville.
