Garbage Collection Service
Recology

  • Collection routes continue to operate as normal. 
    • Extra bags at curbside continue to be collected on normal collection days; charges apply.
  • Placer County residents west of the City of Colfax who do not subscribe to residential garbage collection can establish services by visiting their website or by calling (530) 885-3735.
  • Debris boxes continue to be available for delivery to homes; charges apply. Call to schedule.

Tahoe Truckee Sierra Disposal 

  • Collection routes continue to operate as normal. 
    • Extra bags and bulky items continue to be collected on normal collection days; charges apply.
  • Placer County residents east of the City of Colfax can establish service by visiting their website or by calling (530) 583-7800.
  • Debris boxes continue to be available for delivery to homes; charges apply. Call to schedule.

Garbage Self-Haul
Recology

  • Transfer Stations in Auburn, Foresthill and Meadow Vista are still open to the general public with credit card and check payment only; NO CASH ACCEPTED.
  • Recycling Buy Back Center is closed until further notice.

Western Placer Waste Management Authority

  • Facility open only to commercial haulers and customers with an existing credit account, Monday through Friday.  
  • All services are closed on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Household Hazardous Waste, Green Waste, recycling drop-off facilities and buy-back centers are closed until further notice. 
    • Save HHW and e-waste in a safe place until regular services resume.

Eastern Regional Materials Recovery Facility

  • Scalehouse will be open to the public through Friday, April 10 with CREDIT CARD ONLY,  and will be closed to the public beginning Friday April 10 at noon.
  • Recycling Buy Back Center is closed until further notice.
  • HHW collection events are canceled through April.
    • Save HHW and e-waste in a safe place until regular services resume.


FREE Medication Drop-off Event CANCELED 

The Environmental Utilities Division administers and manages the county-wide solid waste and recycling programs in eastern and western Placer County. 

County-owned facilities include the Eastern Regional Materials Recovery Facility in the Tahoe area, transfer stations in Meadow Vista and Foresthill, and four closed landfills.

The Division also provides administrative support and management to the Western Placer Waste Management Authority which owns and operates the Western Regional Sanitary Landfill and Materials Recovery Facility in unincorporated Roseville.
