- Permitting & Engineering Sustainability
The Permitting and Engineering Section has the primary responsibility of permitting stationary sources of emissions in accordance with applicable state and federal laws and District regulations. The District’s permitting program works to reduce emissions from these sources by evaluating potential toxic impacts, as well as implementation of regulations, Best Available Control Technology (BACT) requirements and allowing for offsets to mitigate air pollutant emissions.
To oversee industrial processes and protect public health and safety by regulating air pollutant emissions from stationary sources and seek quantitative reductions in amounts of air pollutants being released by stationary sources through implementation of regulations, BACT requirements, and emission reductions through offsets.
The Permitting and Engineering Section strives to control source emissions through permit review and implementation of best available control technology in order to mitigate relative air quality impacts for environmental and public health protection.
