- Highway 49 Siphon Repair Project
Placer County is restoring a segment of pipe along the Highway 49 sewer trunk pipeline in order to address the deterioration that was identified by Environmental Utilities staff during routine camera inspections. This trunk pipeline conveys approximately two-thirds of the Sewer Maintenance District 1 (SMD 1) sewer flow and a structural failure of this section of pipe would cause interrupted sewer service, potential environmental impacts, and significant traffic impacts on Highway 49.
Work will include excavation of two pits in Highway 49 and the installation of a cured in place pipe inside of the existing deteriorated pipe.
A Notice Of Exemption was prepared for this project.
The sewer trunk pipeline runs under Highway 49 from Marguerite Mine Road to Joeger Road. The deteriorated section that will be restored is a 320-foot span near the intersection of New Airport Road.
The contract for construction is $336,400. The total estimated Project cost is $500,000 including:
Funding for the project is from SMD 1 User Fees, with no net County Cost.
