Chaplaincy
Placer County Law Enforcement Chaplaincy is a field service ministry to members of law enforcement, their families, and the citizens of Placer County.

The Civil Division handles summons complaints, evictions, small claims, civil bench warrants, wage garnishments, and more.

Concealed Weapon Permits
We are now accepting applications from Placer County residents for new Carry Concealed Weapons (CCW) licenses, renewals, modifications and duplicate licenses.

Crime Analysis
Crime Analysis is defined as a set of systematic, analytical processes directed at providing timely and pertinent information relative to crime patterns and trend correlations to assist operational and administrative personnel.

Dispatch
Dispatch provides both emergency and non-emergency dispatching services for Sheriff, Fire, Paramedics, Animal Control, and County Roads.

Dive Team
Since Placer County has many lakes and rivers, the team is trained on scuba as well as swift water rescue. Search and rescues, evidence collection, vehicle and vessel recoveries, and victim recoveries are the main duties of the team.

Evidence / Property
The Placer County Sheriff’s Evidence Unit covers a variety of duties including Photography and Evidence Collection from crime scenes and autopsies.

Fleet Services
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office Fleet Services Division in Auburn is in charge of all Sheriff’s Office vehicles.

Honor Guard
Honor Guard members are sworn peace officers who have been specially chosen from all divisions of the department. Duties include providing funeral honors for officers who have been killed in the line of duty, as well as for those peace officers who have honorably retired from the department.

Hostage Negotiation team
The Placer County Sheriff’s Hostage Negotiation Team is a specially trained unit of highly skilled crisis/hostage negotiators.

Human Resources
Essential functions of this unit include allocation management, employee services, Agency recruitment, Agency safety, liaison with the County Human Resources Department, and labor and employment laws.

Investigations
The Investigations Division is staffed by approximately 30 detectives, supervisors and personnel. They investigate crimes against persons, property crimes, and narcotics-related crimes.

K-9 Unit
The K-9 unit has allocations for six Deputy Sheriff K-9 teams assigned out of the Auburn and South Placer area, and two allocated to the North Lake Tahoe station.

Marine Patrol
Our boats are used on rivers and lakes in Placer. Our boats are equipped with first aid, rescue and scuba gear.

Mounted Enforcement
Our mounted unit provides specialized duties including public relations, crowd control and Honor Guard events.

Patrol
Patrol Division personnel are the first to respond to emergencies within the county. Patrol Deputies handle the enforcement of criminal and vehicle code regulations, and investigate misdemeanors and felony crimes.

Records Unit
The Public and Records Unit provides a variety of services and information to the community. Our mission is to deliver professional, courteous service and timely accurate information in accordance with record release and privacy laws.

Reserves
Reserve deputies work various details (patrol, fairs, civic functions, concerts, public safety needs, etc.).

Search & Rescue
Each year, numerous missions are carried out in all kinds of conditions by these professionals. Incidents can vary from a missing child in fair weather in a residential neighborhood to a rescue of a trapped skier in blizzard conditions in the harsh wilderness backcountry.

Sheriff Information Technology
The Placer County Sheriff Office's Information Technology (IT) Unit is responsible for providing twenty-four hour a day maintenance and support for over 500 network users throughout the Sheriff's Office as well as providing application support to other Placer County law enforcement agencies.

Special Enforcement
The Special Enforcement Team is a small group of highly trained, specially equipped Deputies introduced into crisis situations to safely and efficiently resolve them.
