About the Loomis Office
The South Placer Substation is located in Loomis and covers the area from Newcastle to Sacramento County line. The communities served by the substation include:
- Granite Bay
- Loomis
- Newcastle
- Ophir
- Penryn
- Rural Lincoln
- Sheridan
- Sunset Estates
- West Roseville/Dry Creek area
The Town of Loomis contracts for its law enforcement services with the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.
In addition to the listed services, there is also a full-time traffic enforcement officer for the Town of Loomis.
Staff
The South Placer Substation is commanded by a Sheriff’s Office lieutenant. Staffing of the substation includes:
- 36 patrol positions
- Community services/school safety sergeant
- Eight school resource deputies
- Numerous volunteers
- One field community services officer
- Other professional staff
- Six patrol sergeants
- Three community services officers
- Three detectives
Sheriff Team of Active Residents
In addition to the office volunteers, the Sheriff’s Team of Active Residents or S.T.A.R.S, is based at the South Placer Substation. The S.T.A.R.S. are used throughout the county to provide a myriad of additional services to residents and communities. S.T.A.R.S. volunteers conduct vacation checks of homes and abandoned vehicle abatement, work traffic details at parades, festivals and other events.
