Composition

The Board shall consist of five members with a minimum of five years professional experience in this state as one of the following:

  • Attorney
  • Certified public accountant or public accountant
  • Licensed real estate broker
  • Property appraiser accredited by a nationally recognized professional organization
  • Property appraiser certified by the Office of Real Estate Appraisers
  • Property appraiser certified by the State Board of Equalization, appointed by the Board of Supervisors

Each Supervisor shall nominate one member subject to the majority vote of the Board of Supervisors. The terms shall be three years.

Purpose

The Assessment Appeals Board shall constitute the Board of Equalization for Placer County and shall meet to equalize the assessment of property on the local roll.

Compensation

Each member of a Placer County Assessment Appeals Board to receive $200 per meeting for each legally authorized regular meeting of the Board that they attend in this capacity, and $300 per day for each legally authorized special meeting of the Board they attend in this capacity, and in addition, receive actual expenses incidental to the proper execution of their duties and such travel and other official expenditures necessitate by their official duties.
