The Investigations Division is staffed by approximately 30 detectives, supervisors and personnel. They investigate crimes against persons, property crimes, and narcotics-related crimes.

Crimes Against Persons

Includes the investigations of:

  • General sex crime
  • Homicide
  • Missing person cases
  • Robbery
  • Sexual assault

Hi-Tech Crimes

Our hi-tech crimes division is a part of the Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force. Their responsibilities include the investigation of computer crimes, computer/component theft, telecommunications fraud, and other cases that require special training and technical experience.

Property Crimes

Includes investigation of fraud, burglary, and theft.

Narcotics Officers

Narcotics officers are assigned to a task force, the Special Investigations Unit. It’s based in western Placer County and participates in regional narcotics investigations. At Lake Tahoe, detectives from the North Lake Tahoe station investigate narcotics activities.
