SANTA CLARA COUNTY JUDGE PROPOSES PLACER COUNTY OF PLACEMENT FOR SEXUALLY VIOLENT PREDATOR

On October 14, 2016, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office notified the Placer County District Attorney’s Office, that after months of hearings in Santa Clara County, a Santa Clara County Judge had ruled that an individual legally classified as a Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) was suitable for conditional release into the community and that Placer County was the proposed county of placement. The Placer County District Attorney’s Office adamantly opposes the placement of this individual in our community. This individual has no connection to Placer County. He has never lived here, worked here, and has no family or friends in our community. Prior to his incarceration, Santa Clara County was his home. The citizens of Placer County had a vested interest in the outcome of the hearings held in Santa Clara County, but were denied the right and opportunity to be represented when a Santa Clara County Judge decided that this sexually violent predator was appropriate for community release. This office is committed to using all legal resources to fight the placement of this individual in our county. The next court hearing is scheduled for February 7, 2017, in Santa Clara County.
