  3. 2012 COLA Winners

A busy film year culminated in a big win at this year’s California On Location Awards (COLA) last month with Location Manager Robin Kincade taking home top honors for Location Manager of the Year for Documentary/Reality for her work on “Gold Mountain.” Mo Tebbe and Sharon Hernandez were COLA finalists for the Federal Employee of the Year Award for their remarkable support of filming in the American River Ranger District/Tahoe National Forest.

“Gold Mountain” is an ambitious documentary series produced by Chinese TV focused on the Chinese immigrant experience. Production took advantage of local rivers, mountain ranges and stunning vistas recreating elaborate scenes from the Gold Rush era, the building of the Transcontinental Railroad, and in the early 20th century, events central to Placer County’s history. Several scenes shot in historic Old Town Auburn stood in for period San Francisco locations.
