Travel Health

More than 900 million international journeys are undertaken every year. Global travel on this scale exposes many people to a range of health risks. Many of these risks can be minimized by precautions taken before, during and after travel.

Important Things to Consider

Important things to consider when planning a trip abroad are:

  • Are you aware of which types of immunizations you or those traveling with you may need?
  • Do you have an illness such as Diabetes or HIV that may make you more likely to get an infection?
  • Are you pregnant or breastfeeding?
  • Are you traveling with infants or children?
  • Have you scheduled a visit to your doctor or clinic?

If you have questions about what immunizations you may need, ask your healthcare provider.

Local providers of travel immunizations include:

  • Passport Health
  • Wellness Mart

You may also input your travel destination and traveler information into the Center for Disease Control's Destination Portal to find out recommended precautions.
