Travel Health

More than 900 million international journeys are undertaken every year. Global travel on this scale exposes many people to a range of health risks. Many of these risks can be minimized by precautions taken before, during and after travel.

Important Things to Consider

Important things to consider when planning a trip abroad are:

  • Are you aware of which types of vaccinations you or those traveling with you may need?
  • Do you have an illness such as Diabetes or HIV that may make you more likely to get an infection?
  • Are you pregnant or breastfeeding?
  • Are you traveling with infants or children?
  • Have you scheduled a visit to your doctor or clinic?

If you have questions about what vaccines you may need, ask your healthcare provider.

You may also input your travel destination and traveler information into the Center for Disease Control's Destination Portal to find out recommended precautions.
