Community Awareness Academy

Thank you for your interest in the Placer County Sheriff’s Office Community Awareness Academy. Our goal for attendees is to provide a greater awareness and understanding of law enforcement’s role in the community, and to benefit from learning about our office’s functions, policies and procedures.

Our 2023 academy will be held March 7th - April 4th every Tuesday and Thursday night from 6:00pm-8:30pm in the Community Room at the Auburn Justice Center.  

Registration will be open from February 1st-17th, to the first 30 people.

Classes take place primarily in the Community Room at the Placer County Sheriff headquarters in the Auburn Justice Center located at 2929 Richardson Drive in north Auburn’s Dewitt Center. Each night will consist of presentations from various units and special teams to include: K-9, Search and Rescue, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (bomb squad), Special Enforcement Team (SWAT team), Marine Patrol, Evidence, Investigations, and more. You will also take “field trips” to the South Placer County Jail, 911 dispatch center, as well as the air operations hangar.

Attendees must be at least 18 years of age, reside or work in Placer County and agree to submit to a minor background check.
