>>>Dollar Creek Crossing update will be at the March 30 Board of Supervisor meeting -- view the agenda here<<<
Placer County is now the owner of the 11-acre Nahas property near Tahoe City, closing escrow on the purchase at a reduced sale price of $3.42 million. While the purchase represents a step forward in bringing more achievable housing to North Lake Tahoe, development concepts for the site are still in early stages and no project proposal has yet been brought forward for formal consideration or approval. Residents can learn more about the status of Dollar Creek Crossing here.
Placer County uses a few guiding principles when selecting and choosing new developments and below is a list of why this site was chosen:
Improve housing choices in North Lake Tahoe by providing a mix of for-rent and for-sale housing for the local community.
Provide housing opportunities for local working professionals near jobs, transit, schools and trails while reducing regional traffic impacts.
Support the existing trail network and create improved bike and pedestrian connections to transit stops.
Implements best forest management practices to reduce fire risk to the project and surrounding neighborhood.
