This week, Innovative Pathways to Public Service is headed to Placer County to show local students a day in the life of county employees. 

The event is anticipated to be an exciting experience for high school students, highlighting the importance of public service and providing an opportunity to learn about the many career paths and employment opportunities available with Placer County. Throughout the day students will be involved in an interactive learning process, observing county government in action and touring county facilities.

Innovative Pathways to Public Service is sponsoring Careers in Public Service Month to increase awareness about public sector career opportunities to the workforce of tomorrow. 

During the month of November, local public service organizations and high schools are joining together for Careers in Public Service Day, a series of events across the greater Sacramento region offering 300 students hands‐on activities to increase their awareness of diverse careers in the public sector – healthcare, cities, counties, special districts and state government.

Where: Placer County Government Center, Auburn Justice Center, 2929 Richardson Drive, Auburn, CA 95603

Time: Thursday Nov. 7; 8:25 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Schools/Students: 11th and 12th-grade students from Woodcreek and Roseville high schools

Public Service Partners: Placer County Probation Department, Assessor’s Office and Library Services

Activities: Students will explore the services provided by each participating county department; tour the juvenile institution and courtroom; tour the Assessor’s Office; participate in interactive geographic information system mapping activities, and learn about various library programs.
