Placer County Community Development Resource Agency: We’re open for business, online
Published on March 27, 2020
The coronavirus pandemic has temporarily closed most county public counters, but the Placer County Community Development Agency continues to provide a full range of planning, engineering, building and inspection services to the public, from permit application to final inspection. CDRA is open to customers via its award-winning online portal – eServices – which provides a variety of functions available 24/7.
The eServices website allows citizens to submit commercial and residential development project permit applications online. Permit review and approval is conducted electronically, and inspectors in the field complete the process by inspecting new construction.
In addition to submitting applications for residential and commercial development projects online, the eServices digital suite allows customers to look up zoning requirements, ask related questions via the Ask Placer chatbot, apply for permits and more from the comfort of their home or business.
“Our team is working hard to keep our economy going in Placer County during these unprecedented times,” said Placer County Community Development Director Steve Pedretti. “We want our residents and business owners to know that they can keep their residential and commercial development projects moving in Placer County.”
CDRA this week added a new feature to its eServices program. Homeowners can now apply for building permits online without having to go through a licensed contractor.
“We’re excited to now offer building permit submissions online for homeowners,” said Building Services Division Deputy Director Tim Wegner. “Homeowners can directly apply for permits for water heaters, re-roofing, electrical panel upgrades, single-family dwelling additions and more.”
eServices has received nation- and state-wide recognition for innovation since it was launched last year, including:
- Most Innovative Use of Citizen Engagement Award, Center for Digital Government
- Innovation Award, California County Information Services Directors Association
- Outstanding Achievement in Local Government Innovation Award, Alliance for Innovation
- Merit Award, California Association of Counties
