Effective January 1, 2017, Placer County’s ordinance establishes regulations regarding indoor and outdoor cultivation for personal use only. Adoption of this Ordinance is intended to protect public health and safety and address nuisance factors associated with unregulated cannabis cultivation, while providing for safe and reasonable personal use of cannabis consistent with Proposition 215 (The Compassionate Use Act of 1996), the Medical Marijuana Program (MMP) and the Medical Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act (MCRSA).
The Ordinance is also intended to be consistent with the legal requirements of Proposition 64, also known as the “Control, Regulate and Tax Adult Use of Marijuana Act, which was passed on November 8th, 2016, making it legal for individuals to use and grow up to six cannabis plants for personal use.
