Placer County Library is gearing up for its summer program. With the theme of “Explore. Discover. Do. Summer @ Your Library!” the library will focus on summer learning with all new reading logs and prizes for all ages.

Summer @ Your Library launches June 1 in South Placer and June 16 for Tahoe libraries. During the next two months, the library will host a range of free programs and activities for children, teens and adults to encourage and support lifelong learning. A big change from previous years is the elimination of tickets to win prize baskets. Instead, participants will receive incentives for completing reading logs.

“We are very excited about this summer, especially about our golden tickets,” said Amie Toepfer, Summer @ Your Library chair. “The golden tickets will give our school-aged participants and their families a chance to come to exclusive after-hours events at various library locations. They are guaranteed to be unlike any library event you’ve ever been to!”

Director of Library Services Mary George echoes the excitement. “I am very proud of the way the Summer @ Your Library committee reinvented summer reading for our community. The committee is offering a mix of beloved performers with a new twist on reading incentives and the magical golden ticket events. I hope we see both familiar and new faces participating, enjoying our offerings and, of course, reading!”

Families can pick up reading logs, event calendars and bookmarks at any Placer County library. A full listing of events can also be found here online.

“Summer @ Your Library is sure to put big smile on participants’ faces,” said Toepfer. “We have something for everyone: games, magic, science, crafts, music, movies, animal shows and even yoga. There won’t be a dull moment!”
