Placer County resumes modified public counter services amid COVID-19 surge

To help slow the spread of the COVID-19 novel coronavirus, Placer County will again be moving to modified public counter services this week. Essential services such as law enforcement, fire and emergency services, garbage, recycling, water and wastewater will continue.

Placer first moved to limited counter services in March during the outbreak of the pandemic but gradually resumed certain in-person services over the following months as conditions allowed. County departments will continue to monitor COVID-19 metrics and restrictions and adjust service offerings as appropriate.

“Placer County is committed to continuing our high level of service while maintaining appropriate health precautions for our employees and residents moving forward,” said Placer County Executive Officer Todd Leopold. “We are honored to be able to serve our communities every day and will continue to do so as we navigate this difficult time together.”

Modified department services vary from virtual meetings and online counter services to in-person consultations by appointment .

A list of impacted services and how to access county services will be updated  regularly on the county’s COVID-19 limited public counter services web page as changes occur.

County staff are evaluating how to continue conducting public meetings safely while allowing for community input. Information about any meeting scheduling or format changes will be published as it becomes available.

With COVID-19 cases surging in California, the governor announced Nov. 16 that Placer County along with most other California counties would move backward in the state's Blueprint for a Safer Economy reopening framework. Placer County is now in the purple tier, with increased restrictions currently in effect.
