- Truckee River Recreational Access Project
The project is a main feature of the Resort Triangle Trail Network vision of Placer County to connect communities on the north Shore of Lake Tahoe with the Town of Truckee. The Truckee River Recreational Access Plan is a draft plan that provides implementation framework for public access and ecological restoration improvements within the SR89 corridor along the Truckee River, between the county line at Donner Creek to Olympic Valley. A paved, multi-use trail is the cornerstone of the plan, connecting to the Town of Truckee’s Legacy Trail and to the current trail terminus at Olympic Valley Road. Parking and drop-off facilities are proposed for a trailhead at the corner of West River Street and SR89. The paved trail will provide public access and connectivity with USFS hiking and mountain biking trails.
Current project work is focused on the environmental documentation effort. A revised Notice of Preparation will be issued Summer 2023.
