“Events like this help remove potentially dangerous prescription drugs from the community,” said Christina Ivazes, health educator for youth substance abuse prevention coordinator with the Placer County Children’s System of Care. “We collected 4,148 pounds of medications at our take-back event last October, which was an 8.6 percent increase from what was collected in the fall of 2015. Since the fall of 2010 Placer County has removed close to 50,000 pounds of unwanted medications from our communities and is even being recognized as a take-back leader by the Drug Enforcement Agency!”

For questions about the event, residents are encouraged to call 916-258-2302.
