In compliance with Senate Bill 36 and Assembly Bill 3364, regarding pretrial risk assessment tools, Placer County Probation, being the “local public agency” that performs pretrial assessments on individuals and provides the assessment information to a court, uses the Virginia Pretrial Assessment Tool.  Validation studies and transparency data can be found at Pretrial-Risk-Assessment-Tool-Validation_June-2021.pdf whereupon Santa Barbara County’s data is used as it is a similar jurisdiction as Placer County.

The Final report for the Creation and Validation of the Virginia Pretrial Assessment currently used can be found at:  https://www.dcjs.virginia.gov/sites/dcjs.virginia.gov/files/publications/corrections/assessing-risk-among-pretrial-defendants-virginia-virginia-pretrial-risk-assessment-instrument.pdf
