- Cooperative agreement with CAL FIRE
Under our contract, CAL FIRE provides year-round fire protection, wildfire prevention, rescue, hazardous materials and emergency medical response services for approximately 475 square miles of unincorporated county not served by a municipality or special district. CAL FIRE also provides full-service fire and emergency medical services countywide.
Contracting with CAL FIRE connects Placer County leveraging the vast amount of resources available through this statewide agency. Beyond its firefighting role, CAL FIRE is an "all-risk" department, which means they are trained to handle every emergency. The department is ready to respond 24/7 to all Fire and EMS emergencies and extremely committed to the communities served.
Because of the department's size and major incident management experience, it is often asked to assist or take the lead in major disasters including all major wildfires in recent years.
Placer County Fire Department is one of 110 local government contracts implemented over the last 75 years throughout the state.
