CAL FIRE Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit / Placer County Fire Department investigates fires to determine their origins and causes. The investigation includes an assessment to reduce future fire risk, a valuation of monetary loss, reporting fire-related injuries or deaths and carrying out the criminal arrest of persons responsible for arson or fraud. During these operations, up to 140,000 pounds of illegal fireworks, with a street value of $23.4 million, have been seized annually.
Anyone with information surrounding arson-related incidents is urged to contact the CAL FIRE Arson Hotline at 1-800-468-4408. Callers can remain anonymous.
