Fire Marshal

Placer County created the new position of fire marshal in 2020 to oversee implementation of the county’s updated hazardous vegetation ordinance. The fire marshal, operating under the delegated authority of the Placer County fire warden, conducts and coordinates inspections and provides supervision for two fire planners, which verify that plans for new development meet fire safety requirements.

The fire marshal enables Placer County Fire Department to better ensure compliance with local, state and federal fire codes to safeguard the community from destructive wildfire, as well as a position that is dedicated to community loss reduction.
