- Red Flag Program
The Red Flag Warning Awareness Program, a partnership of Placer County and CAL FIRE Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit / Placer County Fire Department, was developed to raise community awareness of the heightened wildfire danger on red flag warning days and how we can all help reduce the risk of wildfire.
A red flag warning is issued for weather events that may result in extreme fire behavior that will occur within 24 hours and could exist in the following 12-72 hours. It is the highest fire alert. During warnings, officials urge high alert and caution for all residents, because a simple spark can cause a major wildfire, especially while the warnings are in effect.
When residents see the red flags, they will know to be fire prepared. Learn more
