Burn permits required April 18
Effective 8 a.m. Monday, April 18 the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit (NEU) will require burn permits for residential burning within Nevada, Yuba, and Placer Counties. Residents wishing to burn MUST verify it is a permissive burn day prior to burning.

The California Department of Housing and Community Development has awarded Placer County $23,516,978 in highly competitive funding as part of the Homekey 2.0 program, the agency announced last night, for the intended purchase of a Roseville hotel to be converted as permanent supportive housing for people experiencing homelessness.

With dog kennels overflowing, Placer County Animal Services seeks community help ahead of National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day
Nearing shelter capacity for dogs, Placer County Animal Services is seeking community support to adopt dogs and reunify lost dogs with their owners. More than 90% of dog kennels are full, with more dogs arriving each day. As a result, dogs are being doubled up in kennels or housed in overflow areas such as exercise yards to make space.
