The Placer County Board of Supervisors this week approved the appointment of Bridget Powers to the Placer County Planning Commission, serving in the at-large seat representing areas east of the Sierra Crest. The board also approved the appointment of Robyn Dahlgren to the Planning Commission representing District 1.

The appointment of Powers and Dahlgren marks the first time that a woman has served on the Planning Commission since 2007.

Powers, a resident of Auburn, brings a wealth of public service experience having served three terms as the mayor of Auburn and 13 years as an Auburn city council member and four years as an Auburn Planning Commission member.

“The talented pool of candidates was nothing short of amazing, but Bridget’s specific experience in both Eastern and Western Placer County put her over the top. She has worked on complex land issues, was a longtime company representative in Eastern Placer County, and is a second home-owner in Olympic Valley,” said Placer County Board Chair and District 5 Supervisor Cindy Gustafson. “Bridget will bring exceptional insight that will help her balance community interests and development.”

Powers’ professional affiliations include the Sacramento Area Commerce of Government, Placer County Economic Development Board, City of Auburn Economic Development Board and Auburn Airport Business Park Association, to name a few.

“I am excited to serve in the at-large seat east of the Sierra Crest,” said Powers. “I understand the complexities of land planning and preservation, community interests, and maintaining Placer’s unique characteristics and heritage.

Dahlgren brings over 25 years of public sector consulting experience to District 1, with a focus on analysis, planning, facilitation and organizational change management.

“After decades of managing state improvement projects and consulting, I am excited to represent District 1 to help find the balance of growth while heeding public interests,” said Dahlgren.

Dahlgren earned a master's degree in public administration from Florida International University.

“I’m looking forward to Robyn serving on the board and have absolute confidence in her ability to provide meaningful input on planning decisions,” said Placer County District 1 Supervisor Bonnie Gore.

The Planning Commission is composed of seven members, one from each of the five Placer County supervisorial districts and two at-large members appointed by the Board of Supervisors.
