Public Health

Our core public health programming, from communicable disease surveillance to Children’s Medical Services, serves the entire county including the North Tahoe region. A handful of programs have independent Tahoe operations:

  • The Women, Infants and Children’s program, with health and nutrition supports including supplemental food vouchers, operates out of Sierra Community House in Kings Beach.
  • While Public Health no longer operates medical clinics, Placer County contracts with Western Sierra Medical Clinic for services in several locations including Kings Beach. Learn more (PDF).
  • Vital statistics: Placer County marriage licenses are available at the Carnelian Bay office by appointment only. Call 530-546-1900.
  • Public health nursing services, including home visits for eligible families, can be reached at 800-829-7199 and serve the Tahoe area.
