- Overland Emigrant Trail
The Memorial Overland Emigrant Trail project will construct a 25-mile multi-use, natural-surface trail from Donner State Memorial Park to Kingvale. This multi-phase trail project will create an alignment in the vicinity of the original Overland Emigrant Trail to give users the experience of the first wagon trains over the Sierra Nevada.
The county is working with State Parks, the U.S. Forest Service, Sugar Bowl, Truckee Donner Land Trust, as well as private land owners on the various phases of the project.
The first three miles of trail, near Serene Lakes on the Royal Gorge property, were completed in 2020.
