Our Library Mobile Service (LMS) van targets visiting rural areas or locations that are far from a public library. At present, LMS visits the towns of Alta, Dutch Flat, Meadow Vista, and Sheridan. The goal is to bring the services of a brick-and-mortar library out into the community. These stops provide a variety of library materials patrons can browse and borrow, holds patrons have requested which they can pick up, and library programming.
These community stops are open to the public. Check out our schedule for more details.
School Visits
Library Mobile Service (LMS) travels to small schools that do not have their own libraries and which are not within walking distance to a public library. When conducting a school visit, LMS: brings age-appropriate materials to students curated to match current learning topics; shares a storytime, craft or other interactive activity; provides teachers with classroom resources and when requested, book or resource bundles of select library materials; and, presents tutorials or demos on how to use our online tools such as Homework Help and eLibrary resources.
We are currently visiting these schools:
- Alta-Dutch Flat Elementary
- Harvest Ridge Cooperative Charter School
- Sheridan Elementary School
