- Imagination Library
When a child has access to books they are better prepared for school—and life. Research shows that the number of books in a child’s home is significantly linked to reading scores. The more books, the better the score. Imagination Library was created by Dolly Parton to support families and inspire a love of reading.
All young children in California are invited to participate as of June 2023. When you join Imagination Library of California, your child will receive a new age-appropriate book each month by mail from birth until the child turns five. The books are high quality, free of charge, and a gift to keep. There is no cost to families and books are available in English or in bilingual English/Spanish.
Sign up to join Imagination Library.
When you sign up, an age-appropriate book should arrive at the beginning of the month, usually six to eight weeks after enrolling. If more than one child under the age of five lives in one household, each child can be signed up and receive their own books.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has created a list of frequently asked questions from parents. Find the full list at http://support.imaginationlibrary.com/. If you need help signing up, visit your local library for assistance.
