Placer County Health Care Facility Goes Smoke-Free

Published on March 17, 2016

The Placer County Tobacco Prevention Program is pleased to announce that Oak Ridge Health Care Center in Roseville became a 100 percent smoke-free campus Jan. 1.  As a result, smoking or the use of tobacco products of any kind, including electronic cigarettes, will not be permitted on the property owned by Oak Ridge Health Care Center or any adjacent properties.

Oak Ridge Health Care Center is one of many healthcare facilities across the nation to extend their smoke-free indoor policy to a campus-wide policy. Healthcare facilities are recognizing the importance of leading the community in demonstrating their commitment to public health. Smoke-free policies not only further a healthcare facility’s emphasis on optimal health, but they also aid in community, employee and patient cessation efforts as well as increase worker productivity.

“We know going smoke-free is the right thing to do for our employees, patients and those who are visiting our facility,” said Oak Ridge Health Care Center Director Jason Pollock, “No good has come or will come from allowing tobacco products on our campus, and we think this is a great way to show our community our true dedication to ensuring a positive healing environment for those around us."

Join Placer County in congratulating Oak Ridge Health Care Center in their commitment to promoting the health and well-being of their employees and residents by creating an environment safe from secondhand smoke and tobacco use.
