Placer celebrates grand opening of Glen Willow Park with ribbon-cutting ceremony

Community members and leaders celebrated the grand opening of Glen Willow Park in West Roseville with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 21, the first in a robust park and regional trail system to serve the residents in growing west Placer County. GlenWillow-10

Placer County District 1 Supervisor Bonnie Gore, Placer County Parks Administrator Andy Fisher and Taylor Builders representative Gene Endicott delivered remarks during the ceremony. 

“I am so pleased that this park project has finally come to fruition for our west Placer residents,” said Gore. “Parks are gathering places and that’s what our community needs - places to connect with one another.”

Glen Willow Park, adjacent to the Mason Trails housing development, includes soccer and ball fields, a playground, exercise equipment, a .5-mile multi-use path, pavilions, restrooms and a snack bar facility.

The path also connects to Dry Creek Community Park (opened in 2013) just a little over a mile to the east. GlenWillow-23
More recreation projects are in store for west Placer as part of the county’s Placer County Parks and Trails Master Plan.

Plans for Placer Vineyards, Riolo Vineyards, Placer 1 and Regional University developments include:

  • 39 new public parks
  • Over 1,000 acres of open space
  • 75 miles of new paved trails separated from the roadway and through open space
  • 23 miles of new dirt trails
  • A new community center at Placer Vineyard
  • A joint-use pool and gymnasium developed with a new high school and junior high school at Placer Vineyards

"This wonderful park is just the beginning of a new era of recreation for west Placer County and the region,” said Fisher. “We are one step closer to achieving our goal of a massive regional trail system that will eventually connect to Gibson Ranch, Discovery Park and the American River Pathway.”
