Free medication take-back at 11 Placer County locations this Saturday

The Coalition for Placer Youth in collaboration with local law enforcement, public health entities, local schools and Kaiser Permanente Medical Center Roseville will be hosting a free medication take-back event Saturday, Oct. 10 at 11 locations throughout western Placer County.
Medications will be accepted from 9 a.m. to noon at the following locations:
Auburn
City Hall
1225 Lincoln Way
Justice Center
2929 Richardson Dr.
Colfax
City Hall
33 S. Main St.
Granite Bay
GB High School
1 Grizzly Way
Lincoln
Police Department
770 7th St.
Loomis
Del Oro High School
3301 Taylor Road
Rocklin
Sierra College
Dirt lot, southeast corner
of El Don and Rocklin Road
Whitney High School

Acceptable items include prescription and over-the-counter drugs, controlled substances and veterinary medications.
Pills should be emptied from bottles into plastic bags, and then sealed. Liquids can be dropped off in original bottles.
Unacceptable items include sharps and lancets, medical waste, illicit drugs, and aerosols or hydrogen peroxide.
“Events like this help remove potentially dangerous prescriptions drugs from the community,” said Christina Ivazes, substance abuse prevention coordinator with the Placer County Children’s System of Care. “We collected 4,279 pounds of medications at our spring take-back event earlier this year, which was a 64 percent increase from what was collected in the fall of 2014. This commitment to community wellness and our youth is what makes Placer County great!”
