Posted on: November 6, 2019[ARCHIVED] Animal control officers help quarantined dog reunite with family

It started off as a relaxing trip, but when Bailey the family dog was attacked by a skunk it set off a chain of events for Emily Smiley and her family. Bailey was just a few weeks overdue for her rabies shots, meaning she would need to be quarantined for potential rabies exposure for six months. The family bought materials for kennels so that Bailey could complete her quarantine safely at home - but then Emily’s husband, a firefighter, was called to help respond to fires in t...he Bay Area. Two of our animal control officers decided to pitch in and help get Bailey home - watch the video! Thanks to our ACOs, and to Emily’s family for their service to the community, as well. ❤️❤️ (and don’t worry - there are no signs that the skunk broke skin, so we’re very hopeful that Bailey will emerge from quarantine unscathed. But do keep your pets up-to-date on vaccines!)
