The response from Placer County residents has been tremendous, and our current funding has been fully allocated. We expect future funds will be available, on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign-up for the waiting list by calling El Dorado AQMD at (530) 621-7501.
Thank you for your interest in the Chimney Smoke Reduction Incentive Program (Program), which has resulted in the pre-approval of over 50 applications. The response from County residents has been tremendous, and our current funding has been fully allocated. However, we expect that future funds will be available later in 2021, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Depending on residency requirements, eligible applicants can qualify for an incentive of $500 or $600, and if income eligible up to $2000, to offset the cost of replacing an old, non-EPA certified wood stove or fireplace insert with a cleaner-burning wood, pellet, gas or electric stove or insert.
The program is administered in partnership with the El Dorado Air Quality Management District (AQMD). If you are interested in participating in the Program in the future, you may sign-up for the waiting list by calling El Dorado AQMD at (530) 621-7501. Those on the waiting list will be notified when funding is again available and will be instructed on how to submit an application. Interested participants that purchase a new stove or remove an old stove prior to pre-approval from AQMD are not eligible to apply.
We appreciate the community support and applaud the efforts of residents stepping up to Choke Out Wood Smoke and improve air quality in Placer county.
