Current Carry Concealed Weapons Training Standards

An applicant must be at least 21 years old before applying for a Concealed Carry Weapon license.

The weapon shall be the product of a recognized manufacturer free from mechanical and other flaws, within tolerances determined by manufacturer’s specifications, and in good working order. Weapons approved shall be either revolver or semi-automatic with an ammunition capacity of no less than five rounds.
Licenses will not be issued for weapons having a bullet with a specification of less than .25 calibers, nor greater than .45 calibers. Licenses will not be issued for derringer or other “hide-away” type weapons.
There is a maximum of three weapons allowed on a Concealed Carry Weapons license, but a maximum of two may be carried at one time. No exceptions.

You are required to notify the issuing county that you have moved and provide them with your new address. Your issuing agency will let you know what they require since your move out of their jurisdiction. In addition you must complete the Carry Concealed Weapons (CCW) Modification form online with required documentation. No. The Sheriff’s Office Tahoe Station is equipped to process your Concealed Carry Weapons requests. The Records Unit in our Tahoe Station can be contacted at 530-581-6300, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4p.m.
It is the policy of the Placer County Sheriff’s Office that a proof of residency shall be a utility bill, mortgage statement, rental agreement, property tax bill, bank/credit card statements or vehicle registration. Documents must have been issued within the past 90 days and must not have a past due balance in order to be acceptable.
It is the policy of the Placer County Sheriff’s Office that the certificate you receive at the completion of your course is valid for 3 months from date of issuance; this time may be extended if the background takes longer than 3 months through no fault of your own

CCW license holders are required by state law to attend an 8-hour training class with an agency approved instructor every 2 years to coincide with your license renewal.
