No. Any expired Carry Concealed Weapon (CCW) license is invalid and it is illegal to carry a concealed weapon in the state of California if you do not have a valid CCW license granted by a county within the state. We do allow a permit holder up to 120 days to complete the renewal process without having to start as a new applicant, but you may not legally carry until you have your renewed license on your person. Yes, we allow modification to enhance the sighting and grips. We do not allow modifications to the weapons that would alter it from the manufacturer’s original specification. Read more on our Weapons page.
You must report any change of residence to Placer County Sheriff's Office in writing within 10 days. In addition you must complete the Carry Concealed Weapon Modification form online with required documentation. Your permit will be modified and mailed to you once your application and all documents have been received.
