All open fires and charcoal BQQ’s will be prohibited at the Bear River Campgrounds. Use of portable Colman type gas stoves and lanterns is allowed.


Visitors to various Placer County parks and open spaces may encounter sheep, goats or cattle grazing throughout the area. Sheep and goats are being used for vegetation management to improve habitat conditions for native plants and animals and to help prevent or minimize the effects of wildfires. For your safety:

  • Do not pet, touch or feed grazing animals
  • Dogs must be on leash at all times and under owners' direct control
  • Do not touch fencing, it may be Electrified to contain animals
  • Do not cross into fenced or penned areas

Parks Services

We build and maintain parks in unincorporated Placer County and beaches at Lake Tahoe for residents and visitors to enjoy a variety of active and passive recreational opportunities.

Landscape Maintenance Program

The Parks Division installs and maintains attractive landscaping around County buildings and along major roadways in order to enhance the beauty of Placer County.

Open Space and Trail Program

Open space is acquired and multi-purpose trails are constructed for horse riders, hikers, joggers and bike riders to enjoy the great outdoors within Placer County.  Use of open space is allowed in a manner that is sensitive to the environment and scenic values of the land.
