Pursuant to Penal Code Section(s) 1229 and 1230, the Placer County Probation Department provides Supervision and Rehabilitative Services to offenders, utilizing risk assessments, intensive supervision, and evidence-based programs including drug and alcohol treatment, mental health treatment, and cognitive behavior programs.

The Placer County Probation Department provides several hands-on programs aimed at assisting probationers with a seamless transition into the community. Courage to Change, Job Seekers, and Independent Living Skills utilize evidence-based practices to encourage offenders to develop social values, increase responsible thinking, obtain employment, and live effectively and efficiently in the community.

Funding Source: Probation-funded (SB-678)

  • A 6-8 week interactive journaling program provided by the Placer County Probation Department, which uses a Cognitive Behavioral approach to address Criminogenic Needs
  • The classes and journals focus on Social Values, Responsible Thinking, Self-Control, Peer Relationships, Substance Abuse, Skills for Successful Living, and Self-Management

Independent Living Skills

Funding Source: Probation-funded (SB-678)

  • A series of four, one-day classes that can be taken separately or in succession
  • The classes offered include: Job Placement, Education, Finances, and Health and Leisure
