About the Museum
This museum presents an overview of Placer County history from the early
Nisenan inhabitants through the latter half of the 20th century. It
also includes the Placer County Gold collection, the renowned Pate
Collection of American Indian artifacts and the original Thomas Kinkade
painting "Auburn Centennial". The Museum occupies the first floor of
Auburn’s historic Courthouse.
Old Town Walking Tour
Every Saturday at 10:00 am our docent-led walking tour begins in the gallery of the Placer County Museum gallery. If the temperature is forecast to be over 80-degrees by 11:30am, we will cancel the tour. In addition to our walking tour, we've created this self-guided Old Town Auburn walking tour you can take any time using your smart phone!
