Celebrate Summer With Half-Off Pet Adoptions Through Aug. 31

August 17, 2012

The public has until the end of the month to take advantage of half-off pet adoptions being offered by Placer County Animal Services.

Animal Services is offering half off the cost of adoptions for all animals at its animal shelters in Auburn and Tahoe Vista. “The summer months are a great time for families to consider adopting pets,” said Mike Winters, Animal Services Manager. “A new pet could be a great addition to your family and we'd like to make it easier for families to do so!"

Animal Services is able to offer the promotion due to charitable contributions and the support of A New Hope Animal Foundation.

The half-off fee is $56 for dogs and $46 for cats. As always, the adoption fee includes the cost of altering, vaccinating, registering and providing microchip identification. All adoptable animals have undergone evaluations for health, behavior and temperament.

"It’s a great time to come visit the shelter and adopt a new pet!" says Lynn Howe, President of A New Hope Animal Foundation. "There are a wide range of breeds and ages available for adoption and this promotion will help make it easier for families to adopt."

A New Hope Animal Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, is a valued partner of Placer County Animal Services and assists the county staff with animal care and adoptions.

The Auburn animal shelter is located at 11251 B Avenue in Auburn and the Tahoe Vista shelter is at 849 Shelter Rd. in Tahoe Vista. You can preview the animals available for adoption at or by using the “search” link on the shelter website at
