Placer County Regionalizing Applegate Sewer System

Placer County Environmental Engineering is scheduled to begin construction on the Applegate Regional Sewer Pipeline Project in mid-June. This project is necessary to comply with an enforcement order from the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board and includes the installation of a pump station and pipeline. The pipeline will convey Applegate’s wastewater to the existing sewer collection and treatment system located in North Auburn (Sewer Maintenance District 1).
The pump station will be constructed at Applegate Road near Merry Lane. The pipeline will run approximately 5.5 miles from the new pump station and connect to the existing collection system between Deer Run and Lodge View Drive. The route will run along the following roads: Applegate Road, Placer Hills Road, Sugar Pine Road, and Winchester Club Drive.
Construction of this project is scheduled from mid-June through January 2013 with crews normally working weekdays from 7 am – 6 pm. Residents of the affected areas can expect the following during the course of construction:
- Large trucks and trenching equipment in roadways. Traffic-control measures will be implemented and delays are possible; however no road closures are anticipated at this time. Please allow extra travel time in your schedule.
- Minimal impacts to driveway access and sewer service.
- Placer Hills Road Park ‘n’ Ride will be inaccessible during part of the project; signs will be posted in advance.
- Placer County will provide prior notification for changes to work hours, sewer service, or driveway access. Notifications will be provided via postcard, letter, or hand-delivered door hanger.
Placer County Environmental Engineering has obtained $2.1 million in grant funds from the Environmental Protection Agency for this $7.67 million project.
