Waste Management Authority Invites Residents to Talk Trash at Nov. 14 Community Meeting

November 01, 2012

The Western Placer Waste Management Authority (WPWMA) will host a community workshop on Wednesday, November 14th to discuss odor and other operational issues of importance to local residents. The meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the WPWMA offices at 3033 Fiddyment Road located at the corner of Athens Avenue in Roseville.

The WPWMA is a joint powers authority comprised of Placer County and the cities of Lincoln, Rocklin and Roseville. The WPWMA owns and operates the landfill, Material Recovery Facility, and compost facility located in south Placer County.

Last November the WPWMA conducted a community workshop to engage residents in a dialogue regarding the WPWMA’s operations and regional odor conditions. This year’s follow-up workshop will include updates on current WPWMA operations and projects as well as an open forum to address resident questions.

The WPWMA’s Executive Director, Jim Durfee, commented on the upcoming workshop, “We are pleased to continue our positive dialogue with residents and to provide this opportunity for them to share with us their thoughts and learn more about the WPWMA’s commitment to being a good partner in the community.”
